In this case report a dislocation of the hip received during a judo competition is described. This extremely uncommon condition requires special attention because a dislocated femoral head should be reduced within six hours to reduce the risk of avascular necrosis of the femoral head (AVNFH). Safe return to the pre-injury level of sports depends on the rehabilitation process, the athlete’s fear of movement, and development of AVNFH or osteoarthritis (OA) of the hip joint.
